The relation between power of ORS and the coverage range

Q: Will ORS with greater power increase coverage range ?

A: If your UE is a standard phone, it won't be able to emit more than 200mW, therefore increasing the power of your base unit will not matter anymore. Communication has to work both ways. Under this condition, more power on the ORS will not bring more range. Compare to a classic ORS (2x1W), an ORS Max (2x10W) will provide more download speed at the cell border and/or more active UEs within the range, but not increasing coverage range unless you are using higher power UEs.

A lot of factors could influence the coverage range, here's a table with the coverage range that we could achieve in some cases (for reference): https://handbook.rapid.space/ors/rapidspace-Faq.What.Is.The.Radio.Range.Of.ORS

If you can't reach the same result, the issue could be come from many other factors such as settings, installation, antenna model, etc. but not the power of the ORS. Please contact Rapid.Space team to describe in details your field test conditions to find out the reason, or use Rapid.Space support for a field test.
