Q: How is the drone battery connected to the ORS, and how is the system powered on and off?

A: To connect the drone battery to the ORS, we used two external components.

First, a DC-DC up converter was used to adapt the battery voltage (it can take from 9V to 36V and converts to 48V):

Second, a Tyco PoE injector was used to inject the 48V DC current into the RJ45 cable:

With this setup, there was no need to modify the ORS enclosure.

For the power cycle, the behavior was straightforward. The ORS powered on as soon as the battery was plugged in. Powering off was done by unplugging the battery. In practice, the on/off cycle was therefore handled directly by connecting or disconnecting the battery.
