Q: What cables can I use to connect ORS with Antenna ?

A: Besides the test antennas that are provided in your ORS package, you can also use other type of antennas for different use cases. We have provided a list of recommended external antennas here: Antenna Can Be Used With ORS. After deciding the external antenna model, you need to find the appropriate cables to connect between the ORS and the antenna.

Types of cable should be RG-213 or RG-214, otherwise you will loose too much power and the range your ORS can reach will be reduced.
Length of the cable should be minimized to avoid too much power loss, between 70 and 100cm should be enough if your ORS is placed right under the antenna.

One of the most important specification of the choosing a cable is to be careful with the connectors.

ORS connector for antenna is the N (female) type, so this side of the cable must be N (male) type.

The connector on the antenna is depends on each model, some of them are N (female) type, and some of them are 4.3-10 (female) type, in that case, you need to be sure this side of your cable is the N (male) type or the 4.3-10 (male) type. If it is difficult to find the cable with the correct connector, you can also purchase connector adapter separately.

Here's an illustration taking two antenna models as example: OA-J1-P8A and AOA-4G-8M

Recommended cables & connectors:
