Agenda

  • Requirements
  • Insert Rapid Space SIM card
  • APN settings on Android
  • APN settings on iPhone
  • Turn on the mobile data
  • Enjoy 4G/5G network

Requirements

Insert Rapid Space SIM card

Please insert one of Rapid.Space SIM cards into your smartphone and restart your phone to ensure the connection. The phone expects the eNB / gNB on your ORS to be already running, so please make sure you wait long enough until your ORS is up and running and then restart your phone.

APN settings on Android

For connecting your device to internet, APN (Access Point Names) setting must be configured at UE side to match ORS setting.
Example on Samsung S5 device:
• Go to Settings/More networks/Mobile networks
• Turn on Data roaming
• Go back to Mobile network.
• Add the first APN with the following parameters:

  • Name: Internet
  • APN: internet
  • APN type: internet,default
  • APN protocol: IPv4/IPv6
  • APN roaming protocol: IPv4/IPv6
  • Keep other parameters as default
• Save it and select it.

APN settings on iPhone

Search "APN" in the Settings to enter the menu.

  • Reset Settings for Mobile Data
  • Turn on Mobile Data
  • Turn on Data Roaming

Please note that the 5G function depends on the generations/models/regions of the iPhone.

You can refer to Support bands to continue. Under the existing test conditions, iPhone 13 mini (A2628) can be connected to

  • 38 (TD 2600)
  • 39 (TD 1900)
  • 42 (TD 3500)

(Those are the bands provided by ORS)

iPhone's 5g functionality testing is restricted. The ORS provides 5G SA (stand-alone) instead of 5G NSA (non-stand-alone) while in Europe, 5G SA is not a common use case, so there is no compatible iPhone for us to complete the test. However, we suggest that you may purchase the compatible iPhone from mainland China, where the 5G SA is wildly used and the 5G SA is applied to iPhones.

Enjoy 4G/5G network

If everything is fine, there will be a 4G/5G signal on your phone interface, and you will be able to surf the internet freely.

Your phone might take some time to detect the network, especially for 5G, please wait a couple minutes.
